Former WNBA star Shoni Schimmel has been arrested following an allegedly violent incident in Oregon on Monday. TMZ is reporting she is behind bars and her bail has been set at $48,750.
“TMZ Sports has learned, 29-year-old Schimmel is being held on felony charges of assault and criminal mischief … as well as misdemeanor charges of menacing, recklessly endangering another, harassment, and domestic abuse.”
The 2014 All-Star Game MVP was an All-American guard for Louisville before going #8 overall to the Atlanta Dream. She would become a 2-time All-Star.
After sitting out the 2017 season, due to personal reasons, Schimmel signed with the Las Vegas Aces in May 2018, but got waives just days later.
As far as playing basketball competitively again, Schimmel had this to say back in 2019.
“I’m just chilling right now. After playing basketball for 23 straight years, I think I deserve a break after everything,” she said. “I’m getting ready to possibly get another coaching job.”
