A 12-year-old boy was arrested and accused of robbing Juli Boeheim, wife of the Hall of Fame college basketball coach Jim Boeheim, in the parking lot of a Syracuse, New York, shopping mall, according to multiple reports.
Juli Boeheim was sitting in her car at Destiny USA earlier this month when the youngster confronted her with “an airsoft gun,” stole her purse and phone and then got into a stolen car with three other men before speeding off, according to a Syracuse police statement.
The tween was arrested and charged with second-degree robbery, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree grand larceny. He’s currently being held in a detention center for juvenile delinquents, according to police reports obtained by Syracuse.com.
Boeheim hopes to assist the child who robbed her.
“I think the thing that helped her was it was a kid,” Jim Boeheim said earlier this week. “… Her main thought was, ‘let’s help this kid.’ That’s what she does, we do with our foundation. Try to help these kids. That was the first thing she said, ‘I feel like I want to help this kid.’ But that’s the way she thinks. That’s who she is. She tries to help people.”
