A Boston man is facing a slew of charges after an incident involving a gun at an AAU basketball tournament over the weekend.
Jose Mow was arraigned Monday on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, disturbing a pubic assembly, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition, improper storage of a firearm and operating a vehicle with a revoked license.
Mow pulling out his gun caused chaos on the court as everybody scrambled to get away.
Witnesses told police that the man who had brandished the firearm had fled the scene and provided a description of the vehicle he left in. Fortunately, witnesses were able to give officers a description of the vehicle the suspect was driving.
Police say they located the firearm in a diaper bag inside the vehicle Mow was operating.
According to details from court paperwork, Mow pulled out the gun after a confrontation with parents from an opposing team. Witnesses also told police that it appeared the gun “jammed” as Mow handled the gun, Police estimated about 1,000 people were inside the sports complex at the time, many of whom were seen on surveillance video “sprinting towards the exit, laying on the floor covering their children and attempting to hide behind any type of cover they can find,” according to court paperwork.

“Millworks Sports Facility has emergency protocols in place for mass exodus incidents that are regularly reviewed with employees,” they said. “Our number one goal is providing a safe and welcoming environment for all our customers.
“We are pleased that our staff did a tremendous job in assisting our spectators and athletes out of the building during this stressful time for all.”
