The Alabama Crimson Tide basketball team just cannot seem to get away from that deadly shooting earlier this year.
It was reported last month that Alabama star Brandon Miller was mentioned in police reports regarding the January murder of 23-year-old mother Jamea Harris. Miller brought a teammate the handgun that was used to kill the young lady. He was not arrested, doesn’t face any charges, and still remains on the team.
However, it appears there was another player present at that shooting that involved Crimson Tide player Darius Miles that killed 25-year-old Jamea Jonae Harris. Freshman walk-on Kai Spears was inside Brandon Miller’s car that night, The New York Times’ Billy Witz reported.
The car was hit by multiple bullets, but neither player was injured.
“I’m sorry, I’m not going to be able to speak about that,” he said when asked about the situation on Wednesday.
The reports say one thing, but the program denies Spears’ presence at the scene.
“Based on the information we have, there were no current student-athletes present at the scene other than Brandon Miller and Jaden Bradley, who are both fully cooperating witnesses,” the UA spokesperson said, per AL.com. “From the outset, UA Athletics has fully cooperated with law enforcement and supported their investigation.”

Miles was dismissed from the team and escorted off campus in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.
As the NCAA Tournament gets underway, Alabama head coach Nate Oats said Miller has received increased security as a result of threats against him.
The No. 1 seed Crimson Tide will tip off with a matchup against No. 16 seed Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
