A Kentucky middle schooler that was born without legs is playing basketball and has become an inspiration.
Josiah Johnson was born without legs but he never let it stop him from realizing his dream of playing sports. The 8th-grade student recently made his middle school basketball team. Josiah Johnson who attends Moore Middle School in Louisville, Kentucky has always loved the game of basketball.
“It’s just something I had to do,” he said. “You know, I don’t want you to doubt me because I have no legs. I want to show you that I’m just as human as you are, and I’m just as good as you are, if not better than you.”
He has been playing basketball since kindergarten, and this is his first year on a team.
“I acted like I wasn’t excited in front of the coach. I was like ‘oh okay,'” he said. “Then when I went to gym I was like, I was excited, I was like, I made the team, I made the team.”
He never wanted to let his lack of limbs slow him down.
“He shows up every day. If we have to do sprints or something like that, he’ll run them too as well,’ said Daquan Boyd, Moore Middle School coach. “So that’s very exciting to see him actually get out there and do everything that they try to do as well.”
