Texas Southern University couldn’t deliver a victory against Jackson State on Saturday but they certainly got a victory by one of their band members.
A video emerged on social media showing an interaction between a member of the crowd and a member of the Texas Southern University band. The fan could be seen yelling at a tub player before the player gets tied to his mouth and starts punching him in it.
The tuba player exchanged words momentarily before handing out several blows that sent the fan spiraling backward on the seats before another guy seemingly grabbed him and took him down.. Meanwhile, the tuba player continued to play his instrument while the guy appeared to be knocked out.
Jackson State won the game 21-19, improving to 7-3 on the season. Texas Southern fell to 2-7 on the season with the loss.
The band member is 1-0.
The Texas Southern University Ocean of Soul is currently ranked fourth in the most recent Division I rankings of ESPN’s Band of The Year after starting the season at no. 13.
