The L.A. County Coroner released the findings of the newly released autopsy report on the victims of the crash that took the lives of Kobe and Gigi Bryant, as well as six others passengers and the pilot.
The document stated something that we already knew in which the doomed helicopter was going 184 MPH when it slammed into a hillside in Calabasas, California.
Here are the results for the pilot, Ara Zobayan, via TMZ:
“Toxicology tests were performed and, according to the report, “Toxicological testing did not detect the presence of alcohol or drugs of abuse. Substances tested for include: benzodiazepines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, marijuana, opioids, phencyclidine, and amphetamines.”
Vanessa Bryant has since sued the pilot and Island Express, who owned the helicopter.
A representative for the helicopter pilot issued a response and siad said the “answering defendant bears no responsibility” and alleged as one affirmative defense that any of the “injuries or damages” were caused “in full or in part by the negligence or fault” of the plaintiffs and/or their decedent.

“Any injuries or damages to plaintiffs and/or their decedent were directly caused in full or in part by the negligence or fault of plaintiffs and/or their decedent, including their knowing and voluntary encounter with the risks involved, and that this negligence was a substantial factor in causing their purported damages, for which this answering defendant bears no responsibility,” the documents stated for an affirmative defense regarding “comparative fault/assumption of risk of plaintiffs.”
Vanessa’s attorneys claimed Island Express Helicopters, agents and employees, including Ara, had a “duty to use that degree of care that an ordinarily careful and prudent pilot would use under the same or similar circumstances.”
The plaintiffs are seeking unspecified and punitive damages.
