Immediately after the Arkansas State Red Wolves crushing loss to the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday, one player is making rounds online for his support.
Following a borderline uncalled for 73-0 blowout, Red Wolves Head Coach Butch Jones was emotional on the sidelines. In a touching moment, Cornerback Justin Parks comforts his coach, putting his arm around him and patting him on the back.
Jones’ emotional reaction was absolutely understandable. Nobody is going to blame Jones for the loss, and unfortunately, the team never had a chance against the nationally recognized Sooners. Coaches are also supportive of their players and want to compete for them, so a loss like this is demoralizing. To see Parks comfort his coach in this manner is something that adds to the connection between players and coaches.
Parks supporting his coach is a nice moment in an otherwise rough game. During the game, many fans were upset over the blowout and thought it was unsportsmanlike. Arkansas State is nowhere near the program that Oklahoma is, so the crushing victory for the latter was uncalled for.
Arkansas State plays next vs. the Memphis Tigers. Look for the team to rebound following the loss.
