This is outrageous, and he should be suspended. pic.twitter.com/TjLOqwSRh4
Fans, former players, as well as some in the Razorbacks fanbase were disgusted by his actions.
The first-year transfer from San Jose State had fans wanting him to be banned permanently from the sport over his actions.
Carmona broke his silence on the matter, apologizing for what transpired.
“I’d like to apologize for my actions last Friday night in the Liberty Bowl,” Fernando Carmona posted on X.

“I let my emotions get away from me. I have nothing but respect for Texas Tech and the game of football. I apologize to my team and coaches. I’m not that kind of player and will learn from this.”

What Happens To Fernando Carmona From Here?
Arkansas offensive lineman Fernando Carmona issued an apology on social media on Sunday. The apology came one day after footage showed him reportedly stepping on a Texas Tech player during the Liberty Bowl in Memphis.
The video showed him walking toward a pile of players and purposely stepping on Red Raiders defensive back C.J. Baskervilles’ ankle before helping up running back Braylen Russell.
Carmona responded with a post on X on Sunday apologizing for the incident.
“I’d like to apologize for my actions last Friday night in the Liberty Bowl,” Carmona said in part.
Despite his apology, many still want him kicked off the team.
So, what happens from here?
Earlier this month, Fernando Carmona announced he would return to Arkansas for the 2025 season. He started every game this season at left tackle for the Razorbacks and was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week two times.
It is ultimately up to the program to decide how to proceed from here, as the season is over, and any punishment would have to go for the 2025 season.
