Arch Manning was one of the most hyped-up high school recruits in recent memory. The quarterback from Louisiana is the nephew of both Peyton, and Eli Manning and committed to the University of Texas in 2023. As he continues to ride the bench for the Texas, the looming threat of a transfer seems imminent. Here are five schools that Arch manning should transfer to, and five that he should stay away from.
Transfer to: Ole Miss
Uncle Eli went to Ole Miss back in his college days, and this may be a good fit for Arch manning. The young quarterback would have a chance to sit behind Jaxon Dart for a season, and the RPO style of offense is similar to what Manning ran in high school, where he had to make quick decisions as a passer. This style of offense will prepare him to play at the next level, and the added benefit of an already stellar Ole Miss passing game will set Manning up for success.
Stay away from: Michigan
If Manning were to transfer to Michigan, he wouldn’t be the focal point of their offense. Jim Harbaugh has worked to perfect the pin and pull offense which focuses on getting linemen in space to throw blocks downfield. This makes Michigan one of the only offenses in the country that don’t rely on the quarterback as the focal point of the offense. In addition, Michigan had five quarterbacks on the depth chart in 2023, so he may not see much playing time at the Big House.
Transfer to: Washington
Kalen DeBoer, head coach at UW has done something right for the Huskies as he has managed to turn the program into a national title contender. With the departure of Michael Penix Jr. following the conclusion of the 2023/2024 season, the quarterback position is open for the taking. Arch Manning would fit in the UW offense which focuses on throwing the ball down the field. In addition, Manning would be paired with one of the best offensive lines in the country.

Stay away from: Oregon State
Sticking with teams that used to belong to the Pac-12, Oregon State has found success with quarterback DJ Uiagalelei taking snaps, but the offense has focused on running the football with two powerful running backs in the backfield for the Beavers. Oregon State runs an offense similar to that of the Seattle Seahawks, using the run to set up the play action pass, this is unfamiliar to hat Arch Manning has grown to be familiar with. In addition, Oregon State doesn’t have a conference, and while the school has signed a scheduling agreement with the Mountain West conference, a future NFL prodigy won’t want to play against teams that aren’t in a power five conference.
Transfer to: Alabama
It’s no secret that almost every player in the country wants to play for Nick Saban at Alabama, and Manning might be the missing piece that can turn Alabama into a contender once again. Many predicted Arch Manning would go to Alabama when Bryce Young left for the NFL, but he chose Texas instead. Current Alabama quarterback Jaylen Milroe has been playing well this year, but “well” isn’t good enough for Saban’s standards. If Arch Manning were to transfer to Alabama in 2024, we may watch a thrilling quarterback battle unfold in spring camp in Tuscaloosa.
Stay away from: Ohio State
Ohio State has four quarterbacks on the depth chart and signed a four-star commit in 2023. The Ohio State Buckeyes run the spread option offense which requires the quarterback to be able to run the ball when called upon. Manning hasn’t made a name running the ball and is more well known as a passer, keeping him from being a good fit in Ryan Day’s offense.
Transfer to: Texas A&M
Texas A&M struggled in conference play in 2023, and the team is currently lead by interim head coach Elijah Robinson. The team currently has two underclassmen quarterbacks on the roster, so Manning would fit right in in the quarterback room. The team runs a pro-style offense which Manning could easily perfect. In addition, the team may be hiring a new head coach, and Manning could be a key piece in a future rebuild.
Stay away from: USC
The University of Southern California will be losing Caleb Williams to the 2024 Draft, but the team is ready to continue firing on all cylinders without skipping a beat. USC’s backup is a redshirt sophomore and should be able to hop into the backfield and perform at a high level. In addition, USC signed a five-stat quarterback as a part of the 2023 recruiting class. All in all, there may not be a reason for manning to transfer to USC.
Transfer to: Louisiana State
Louisiana State University has been a force in the SEC over the past decade, and current quarterback Jayden Daniels is a Heisman Contender. LSU is in Manning’s home State in Louisiana, and the quarterback position will have an opening with Daniels leaving for the NFL in 2024. Could Manning be the guy to fill that opening?
Stay away from: Texas Christian
After losing the national title game in 2022, TCU has been on the decline. In in 2024, a majority of the offensive line will be leaving due to their eligibility running out. In addition, the TCU running game will take a hit with the inevitable loss of Emani Bailey due to his eligibility expiring. In addition, the team will take a hit from losing members of the receiving core whose eligibility is expiring as well. All in all, TCU is losing many offensive players due to their eligibility running out, and Manning would not have a good supporting cast should he transfer to TCU.
