A signed Arch Manning trading card has fetched a record-breaking sum following the quarterback signing his first NIL deal.
The Texas QB signed a multi-year contract with Panini America that has prompted the production of an exclusive series of autographed trading cards, the first of which sold at an auction for $102,500.
This marks a record for said company as it’s usurped a 1-of-1 card bearing Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic that sold for $100,000. The fee is also a record for any trading card falling attached to a NIL athlete.
In spite of the above, Arch isn’t going to get a dime from the sale as all proceeds will go to St. David’s HealthCare and St. David’s Foundation in Austin, Texas. The player’s family had insisted he would not sign a NIL deal before he became a starter for the Longhorns, which has not become the case.
However, he’s not making any money off it yet, so they weren’t exactly lying.
