We’ve already seen a plethora of big-named NCAA football players enter the transfer portal, and it just might be a matter of time until Arch Manning joins the list.
The Longhorns’ starting QB of 2023, Quinn Ewers, is a sure-bet to go in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft if he declares. However, there’s speculation growing that Ewers will return for one more year of college, meaning Manning would have to wait at least another year to start.
That’s unless he enters the transfer portal, of course.
According to Mike Farrell, the Ohio State Buckeyes, Alabama Crimson Tide, Ole Miss Rebels (his uncle Eli’s alma matter), and Tennessee Volunteers (uncle Peyton’s alma matter) are among the possible destinations for Manning if he enters the portal.
Interestingly, Farrell noted that the Miami Hurricanes are also a potential suitor for the future third generation NFL QB:
“Potential landing places for Manning could include Ohio State, Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee, or even Miami, who need a starting quarterback with Tyler Van Dyke entering the transfer portal and Emory Williams out until Spring with a compound fracture in his right arm.”
Many were surprised when Arch, the son of Cooper Manning and the grandson of former NFL QB Archie Manning, committed to the Longhorns. Despite the latest speculation that he’ll leave, it has been reported that Manning is likely to stay at Texas next year.

Cooper is the oldest of the three Manning brothers. He was a promising wide receiver prospect who committed to Ole Miss, but Cooper unfortunately had to retire before beginning his collegiate career because of spinal stenosis.
Cooper’s younger brothers, Peyton and Eli, were the first overall picks in 1998 and 2004, respectively. Peyton won Super Bowl championship rings with the Indianapolis Colts (2006) and Denver Broncos (2015), while Eli went on to lead the New York Giants to Lombardi Trophies in 2007 and 2011.
Arch isn’t NFL Draft eligible until 2026. Of course, the main goal for now is finding a way to the field where he can build up his future NFL draft stock.
Will that opportunity come in Texas or elsewhere? The million dollar question should be answered relatively soon.
