While it seems on the outside that everyone would agree that it is a good idea to stop sports as the entire world deals with a pandemic in the coronavirus, there’s always a select few who are never happy about anything.
On Thursday, the NCAA finally made the decision to cancel the 2020 men’s basketball tournament in the wake of the coronavirus, and not everybody was thrilled to hear that news.
One anonymous head coach was upset.
“It’s bulls%^*&. Erase all the work these kids have put in without giving it a chance to play out,” the coach told Stadium’s Jeff Goodman.
The NCAA announced its decision and released a statement on Thursday.
“Today, NCAA President Mark Emmert and the Board of Governors canceled the Division I men’s and women’s 2020 basketball tournaments, as well as all remaining winter and spring NCAA championships. This decision is based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat, our ability to ensure the events do not contribute to spread of the pandemic, and the impracticality of hosting such events at any time during this academic year given ongoing decisions by other entities,” the NCAA announced.
