The LSU women’s basketball program had a successful 2022 season as it culminated in a national championship. But their title defense has gotten off to an ugly start.
Tigers star Angel Reese, who ventured into the realm of celebrity following an impressive campaign and a bit of notoriety, was benched this week. And her mother is now beefing with the mom of one of her teammates.
Reese was benched during the second half of a win over Kent State on Tuesday as LSU went into halftime with a two-point lead. Head coach Kim Mulkey, who said that the benching was a “coach’s decision” appeared to have been vindicated as the Tigers ended up winning 109-79.
According to Outkick’s Glenn Guilbeau, Angel was benched because of her attitude.
In the meantime, her mother, Angel Reese Webb, and Flau’jae Johnson’s mother, Kia Brooks, have been feuding on Instagram, according to Just Women’s Sports.
“Folks pls do not send me long text msgs with a bunch of grammatical errors it gives me a headache,” Webb wrote, supposedly directed at Flau’jae. “How do I know you said what you said if I can’t understand what you’re saying?”
“You definitely know about grammar errors when your daughter got a 2.0 or less GPA,” Brooks responded. “Stop being petty, fake and hateful, and take responsibility for you and your daughter’s actions.”

Flau’jae and Angel are close (or at least they were) and were even rumored to have been in an intimate relationship. But it appears their moms aren’t all that rosy.
There’s also talk of Reese possibly being suspended for Friday night’s game against Southeastern Louisiana as well.
