The Alabama Crimson Tide may be without one of their top offensive weapons for Saturday’s SEC Championship Game against the Georgia Bulldogs.
Per Alabama reporter Austin Hannon of BamaCentral, running back Jase McClellan missed his third consecutive practice session on Wednesday. Hannon added that McClellan isn’t expected to play on Saturday, though the final update will come this evening.
McClellan is in his fourth season with the Crimson Tide. He has already rushed for a personal best 803 yards (4.8 yards per carry) and six touchdowns to go along with 13 receptions for 126 receiving yards.
If McClellan is out, then the Crimson Tide will likely lean on No. 2 RB Roydell Williams. The 5-foot-10, 214-pound Williams has been a tremendous complement to McClellan, with 497 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Williams has averaged an impressive 5.3 yards per carry this season.
The No. 1 ranked Bulldogs are looking to win their 30th game in a row. Kirby Smart’s crew has won the last two national championships, including a victory in the big game over Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide in the 2021 season.
Alabama is ranked No. 8 in the nation coming into Saturday’s contest, with their lone defeat coming against No. 11 ranked Texas on Sept. 9.

Not only is the SEC Championship Game on the line, but Saturday’s tilt between the two national heavyweights could also impact the four-team postseason tournament. A win for Georgia all but clinches another spot in the dance.
