Alabama fans were holding their breaths after one of the program’s commits for 2025, Keelon Russell, appeared to suffer a scary ankle injury during Thursday night’s All-American Bowl.
The Crimson Tide will start a new player under center next season, with current starter Jalen Milroe set to enter the NFL Draft. Russell could be the quarterback they turn to.
Russell is set to be a true freshman this year and, according to 247Sports, is the No. 2 overall recruit in the country. There is a lot of hype surrounding his arrival in Tuscaloosa, as many feel he’s ready to start for the Tide.
It’s why there must have been some panic after he went down with an injury in Thursday’s game.
The Duncanville High School star’s right ankle twisted underneath him after he was wrapped up and taken down by Ole Miss commit JaReylan McCoy and needed to be helped off the field.
