For over a decade, Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban has been the most successful coach in the sport and has built a dynasty at Alabama.
He has 7 National Titles, 10 SEC titles, and 15 SEC West Division titles, not to mention the first-round NFL Draft picks and NFL talent that has been developed under his watch.
However, one former Georgia star quarterback thinks his dynasty and dominance might be coming to an end sooner than later.
During a recent appearance on the ‘3 And Out’ Podcast with John Middlekauf, former Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray predicted that Nick Saban will not coach for another five years and will not win another national championship.
“How much longer? Two things,” Murray said on the podcast according to On3. “Will Nick ever win another natty? And over or under four and a half years left of coaching? I don’t think he coaches another five years. And I don’t know if he wins another national championship either.
“I don’t think it’s going to happen this year. I think it’s going to be more and more difficult to win a national championship because of this new format. And, all of a sudden, you start to see Nick Saban, who has dominated the sport for so long, slowly start coming down that mountain,” said Murray. “Already? He hasn’t won in two years, which is rare for them. You don’t win again this year, which I don’t think that they have the team to do it. Then you don’t do it next year? All of a sudden that’s four years in a row and people start questioning if that is truly the last time that we’ve seen Nick win.”
Strong words, but Saban is still around, and shows no signs of slowing down, despite having to answer annual questions from the media about retirement.
He will most certainly be at the helm during the 2023 season, but he is still upset about last year.

Saban clearly doesn’t love the College Football Playoff system, and the legendary Alabama head coach is still bothered by the fact that the Crimson Tide were left out of the playoff last season.
In an interview with FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt on The Joel Klatt Show podcast, Saban spoke out against the CFP system and how playoff teams are picked.
“All we do is take the teams that win the most games at the end of the year and put them in the playoffs,” Saban said regarding if there’s a better way to decide the CFP. “But do you really get the best teams? When they told me that we would be favored against three out of the four teams that got in the playoff, I’m like, well why aren’t we in the playoff?”
Last season, Alabama went 11-2, with the two narrow losses coming on the road at Tennessee and LSU. They were not selected for the playoff but instead appeared in the Sugar Bowl, where Saban’s squad blew out Kansas State by a score of 45-20.
The CFP will expand from four teams to 12 beginning with the 2024 season.
