Jordan Seaton has revealed that other programs tried to lure him away from Colorado by talking down on Deion Sanders.
The five-star offensive lineman committed to the Buffaloes earlier this month but delayed his signing, much to the annoyance of all in Boulder. A late bid from Maryland is believed to have been the cause of Seaton’s hesitance, but he eventually signed his National Letter of Intent last week.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Seaton said he was the subject of some negative recruiting, with one unnamed school hitting him – and Sanders, by extension – with a disrespectful stereotype.
The OL said he was asked: “What do you want to be a rapper or something?”
While he did not disclose where the comment came from, fans immediately pointed to Oregon head coach Dan Lanning after the video began doing the rounds online.

A video of the Ducks HC throwing shade at Colorado in a pregame speech to his team ahead of a game against the Buffaloes earlier this year went viral in September. It’s why everyone seems to think Lanning is the one who made the “rapper” jibe.
“The Cinderella story is over, man. They’re fighting for clicks, we’re fighting for wins,” Lanning was heard saying back then. “There’s a difference. This game ain’t gonna be played in Hollywood, it’s gonna be played on grass.”
Coach Prime took the high road after catching wind of Lanning’s sentiments.
“I respect the heck out of this man, what he’s accomplished, stepping in and taking over that program not only keeping it rock steady but accelerating it,” he said. “I love who he is. I love the way he runs his team and the way he operates, so I got a lot of respect for him.”
