The Ohio State Buckeyes have landed a commitment from Bo Jackson. Bo’s birth name is Lamar Jackson Jr., for those who are wondering.
Nope, that Bo Jackson isn’t going back to college.
This newer version of Bo Jackson is also a running back—a four-star at that—who hails from Cleveland and shares the same name as the multi-talented 1985 Heisman winner. And get this: His real name is Lamar Jackson Jr.
The kid is destined for greatness.
Jackson, unrelated to the former NFL and MLB star, committed to Ohio State on Thursday.
He is among the best RB prospects of the 2025 recruiting class and turned down offers from Alabama and Georgia, among other top programs, to play for his native Buckeyes. Apart from sharing a name and position from the older Bo Jackson, the new Ohio State commit also plays multiple sports and excels at baseball and track and field.

A Tale Of Two Bo Jacksons aka Lamar Jackson Jr.
The older Bo Jackson played his college football at Auburn, where he became a two-time All-American and a Heisman Trophy winner.
After college, he played four seasons in the NFL for the then-Los Angeles Raiders while also suiting up for the Kansas City Royals, Chicago White Sox, and California Angels. He remains the only athlete in North American history to be named an All-Star in two professional sports, having made the MLB All-Star Game in 1989 and the NFL’s Pro Bowl in 1990.
Lamar Jackson Jr., nicknamed Bo from a very young age, is poised to play for Ohio State in 2025 and hopes to leave his mark on the college game as the other Bo did.
