Bronny James is looking to transfer out of the University of Southern California and continue his career elsewhere. Everyone on the internet thinks they know where he is going, and the predictions are running wild. From Oregon to Ohio State, here are ten spots being named as potential transfer destinations for Bronny James as he forgoes his future with USC.
Bronny James and the 10 schools he could possible transfer to
10. Oregon
Out of high school, Bronny James’ selection came down to USC, Oregon, or Ohio State. Of course, he selected USC, but what if he chose Oregon? The Ducks made the NCAA tournament in 2024 and made it into the round of 32 before losing to Creighton in double overtime. Oregon showed their resilience as a tough team in the past tournament and could use a smart defensive player like Bronny James on their roster.
9. Ohio State
For similar reasons as Oregon, Ohio State is a potential landing spot for the Freshman Guard. The Ohio State Buckeyes finished 22-14, and tenth in the Big Ten Conference in 2024. Ohio State is a team that could use a little extra support on both offense and defense, and James could become a key piece to create a lockdown defense for the Buckeyes. This transfer could be the reason that Bronny James needs to put on the Buckeyes’ uniform.
8. Penn State
Penn State has been named as a potential landing spot for Bronny James. Many think that James needs to get away from the limelight in California and put his head down to grind out his college eligibility. No better place to do that than Penn State. Here, he would be going up against top competition at a university that treats its athletes very well. While nothing is official quite yet, Penn State seems to be high on people’s lists of landing spots for James.

7. Arizona
Arizona has been a successful men’s basketball program for over twenty years and has dominated the PAC12 during that time. Arizona’s success has been categorized by elite play from their guards. As a shooting Guard, Bronny James would find success in a Wildcats’ uniform, and it would give him a chance to learn under a successful coach and a historic program.
6. Kentucky
Coming out of High School, James had an offer from Kentucky but committed to USC for more playing time. Kentucky does have three guards listed as seniors on their roster, and Bronny James may finally get the playing time he was hoping for.
5. Memphis
The Memphis Tigers of the AAC conference were high on Bronny James as a high school recruit and should reach out to him again to encourage him to transfer. James wanted to play against the top competition in the nation, but with a lack of playing time in his freshman campaign, it might be worth it to take a step back and play against AAC schools for a year to prove he is as good as we think he is. Memphis finished with a winning record in 2024 and had the 31st-best offense in terms of points per game. Their defense did rank in the bottom of the nation, so having James as a smart defensive player to help support the overall team could prove to be beneficial for all parties involved. In addition, the Memphis Tigers do have an aging roster and could be losing a handful of players this offseason. All the more reason for James to transfer.
4. Michigan
The Michigan Wolverines’ 2024 season was flat-out atrocious. The team failed to collect ten wins and had only three victories in conference play. The team allowed an average of 79 points per game in 2024, which put them as almost the worst in the nation. The 2024 Wolverines roster had seven seniors who are soon to be leaving, thus essentially guaranteeing playing time for Bronny James.
3. Duke
Duke Men’s Basketball is a cornerstone of college athletics and one of the most historic programs in the Nation. Duke did offer Bronny James a roster spot as a high school recruit and given the program’s recent success with yet another deep run on the NCAA tournament in 2024, it could be worth it for James to try his hand at transferring to Duke. It would give James a chance to learn behind a successful coach, and some of the best players in all of college basketball. In addition, he would get to play against top competition in the ACC. James would be a sensational 6th man for the Duke Blue Devils.
2. North Carolina
Another historic ACC program is UNC, who like Duke had a deep run into the NCAA Tournament in 2024. The University of North Carolina offered Bronny James a roster spot as a high school recruit, but James turned it down in favor of more playing time at USC. If James is looking for more playing time, this may not be the place to go. But if he is looking for the chance to develop into an all-around elite player then UNC is for him.
1. SMU
Former USC head basketball coach Andy Enfield accepted the head coaching position at Southern Methodist University. Bronny’s desire to transfer arose following Enfield’s departure. It is not uncommon to see players transfer to another university in order to follow their coach. Who could blame Bronny James for wanting to stay with the coach he committed to?
