Zion Williamson is finally healthy and producing for the New Orleans Pelicans. He has appeared in eight of the teams first ten games this season while averaging a very respectable 21.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. That’s the good news, the bad news is that Zion appears that he wants out of New Orleans.
During a recent press conference, Williamson was asked to compare how things were going for him within the offense this year in comparison to last season.
While giving his answer, Zion on more than one occasion mentioned how he needs to “buy in”, something Pelicans fans surely did not want to hear.
Considering how patient the Pelicans franchise has been with Zion while he has dealt with a multitude of injuries, not to mention the millions of dollars they have paid him not to play, it is no surprise that fans of the organization were not too pleased with Williamson’s comments.

Just last year, Zion and the Pelicans agreed to a five-year rookie max extension worth at least $193 million and that figure could rise to $231 million should Williamson win a major award or make an All-NBA team this season.
With several more years and hundreds of million of dollars left on this contract, Zion will need to prove that he can stay healthy and consistently produce to make any team want to trade for him.
