Zion Williamson could soon be on the move, according to an NBA insider.
The New Orleans Pelicans forward isn’t having the greatest offseason as his personal life has been placed under the microscope. Where his future is concerned, that’s neither here nor there, but you could read about it here… or there.
It’s quite safe to say that Zion’s NBA career has been disastrous to date. After entering the league as the No. 1 overall pick in 2019, he’s hardly been able to play as he’s been plagued by injuries – and one could argue that they’ve been self-inflicted as he doesn’t seem all that keen on slimming down.
The Pelicans have been pretty patient with their franchise star, though they were reported to harbor concerns over his commitment to basketball and his eating habits.
Things may have come to a head in New Orleans as, last week, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst revealed that the Pels were open to a trade for the player as they would like to strengthen their position in the upcoming NBA Draft.
Given that the Draft is scheduled for this Thursday, it stands to reason that they’d want to move the player by then, which is exactly what Bill Simmons is suggesting.

“The Zion thing is a real, real, real, subplot,” Simmons said on the latest episode of his podcast. “I had somebody tell me yesterday—that I trust—that he will not be on [the Pelicans] by Thursday.”
Where the 22-year-old ends up is anyone’s guess, but the Houston Rockets have been talked up as a potential destination.
Thursday isn’t far away, so let’s wait and see.
