Ja Morant and Ziaire Williams both began their NBA careers with the Memphis Grizzlies, with Morant joining the team in 2019 and Williams arriving two years later in 2021. Since then, the two players have developed a strong bond that extends beyond the basketball court.
However, the Grizzlies traded Williams to the Brooklyn Nets earlier this offseason. In a recent interview with HoopsHype, Williams opened up about his close friendship with Morant, expressing how much their relationship means to him.
Williams didn’t just stop at discussing their on-court chemistry; he also shared Morant’s character off the court. He recounted a special moment when Morant flew all the way from Memphis to attend his camp in his hometown of Lancaster, California.
“He flew all the way from Memphis just to come to my camp. As great as he is on the court, he’s even ten times better off the court,” he added.
Ziaire Williams Believes in Ja Morant’s Return to Form Despite Off-Court Issues
Ja Morant faced a challenging season last year, playing in only nine games due to his shoulder injuries and off-court issues. Despite these challenges, Morant has received unwavering support from his teammate Ziaire Williams. In a recent interview, Williams shared his thoughts on Morant’s off-court troubles.
“Yeah, I mean, in the NBA, it’s all just recency bias. He was just hurt. He didn’t play last year, but they’ll remember real quick,” Williams said.
