Anthony Edwards’s recent statement about Michael Jordan and his era has sparked a lot of criticism. While some players supported Edwards’ comment, most former and current players criticized him for his intense take on the legendary player. In addition to his comments on the Chicago Bulls legend, Edwards was often seen engaging in trash-talking. A former NBA player recently criticized this habit of Edwards.
During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, NBA legend Magic Johnson gave a harsh reality check to Edwards for his habit of trash-talking other NBA players. The legendary player emphasized that as a young player in the league, Edwards should focus on earning his stripes and proving himself on the court before engaging in trash-talking.
“You might want to talk trash when you’ve won something. You know, if this came from some of the guys who just won on the Celtic team, OK, you might want to look at it. But you haven’t won anything,” Johnson said.
Johnson highlighted the importance of demonstrating skill and professionalism before making bold statements in the media.
Johnson Urges Edwards to Set His Sights on the Competition
During the 2023-24 NBA season, Edwards delivered several dominating performances, leading his team to the playoffs. They defeated the Phoenix Suns in the first round and the Denver Nuggets in the second round but ultimately lost to the Dallas Mavericks in the conference finals.
Johnson emphasized Edwards’ defeat against the Mavericks, suggesting that Ant-Man should concentrate on playing against strong teams like the Mavericks, Boston Celtics, and Oklahoma City Thunder.

“If I’m Anthony Edwards, I’m concerned about the Dallas Mavericks, about OKC, about Boston, about all these great teams. … Concentrate, because you got beat by the Mavericks. You didn’t make it to the championship. So I’m concentrating on that instead of what happened in a time you wasn’t born,” Johnson added.
Johnson’s statement could grab Edwards’ attention, and it will be interesting to see his reaction.
