Stephon Castle is embarking on the beginning of his NBA journey after the San Antonio Spurs selected him as the No. 4 pick in the draft. The Spurs rookie recently openly shared his appreciation for the Boston Celtics’ Tatum, describing him as his favorite player.
Castle admires Tatum’s versatility and the impact he brings to the court, noting that Tatum’s skill set allows his team to utilize him effectively in various roles during games.
“He does so many different things on the court you can really put him anywhere,” Castle said.
Tatum showcased his scoring prowess during the last regular season and elevated his game even further in the playoffs. As a star forward for the Celtics, he averaged 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists in 74 regular-season games. During the intense 2024 playoffs, Tatum continued to excel, with averages of 25.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 6.3 assists across 19 games.

“Looking back on that time, I wouldn’t expect to be in the position that I’m in now. With all of the hard work that I’ve put in, I feel like it’s all paid off,” Castle said.
Upon his arrival, Castle wasted no time in connecting with Spurs star Victor Wembanyama via FaceTime shortly after being drafted.
Castle conveyed his excitement about teaming up with the 2024 NBA Rookie of the Year during his introductory news conference.
“Just the thought of playing with him, of course it circulates in your mind, but it really doesn’t feel real until it becomes reality. So I mean, just to know that that’s going to be my future teammate now, I’m just really excited for what our future looks like,” Castle said.
