When this season started, it looked like Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid would defend his regular season MVP title. Unfortunately, he got injured and was ruled out of the season. However, it didn’t discourage Drew Hanlen from naming Embiid as the best player.
Hanlen is Joel’s trainer and accompanies him most of the time. He interviewed with a media outlet and answered many questions concerning Joel Embiid. He revealed how the recent injury has affected the former NBA MVP’s mental health. Drew remarked that the 76ers’ big man was en route to winning his next MVP award because of how he played.

He explained how Embiid was robbed of greatness in his career whenever he got close to it. In his rookie year, Embiid was a favorite to win the Rookie of the Year award but got injured. Similarly, in 2021, The 76ers were the top see in their conference, and Joel was the favorite to win the MVP honor, but he again got injured and missed out on it. Drew highlighted that this season Embiid was the favorite to win the MVP title and the scoring title his injury robbed him of it again.
It harmed Embiid’s mental health so they looked at it from a different perspective. “When you (Joel Embiid) are healthy, you are the best basketball player in the world. Hopefully one of these years, you can get a healthy post-season so that you can show the people what you are capable of,” said Drew in the interview while reminiscing about his conversation with Joel.
Joel Embiid returns to Practice at the 76ers camp
The Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid returned to practice after being sidelined for a long time. This is happy news for the fans as the 76ers will be facing the Miami Heat, led by Jimmy Butler, in the upcoming Play-In Tournament. Having Embiid in the game would provide strength and a morale boost for the team trying to make the playoffs.

Embiid underwent successful surgery for his meniscus in February, which kept him out since then. Now, he has been medically cleared to participate in practice. Participating in practice doesn’t mean that the 76ers star will be removed from the match on Wednesday, but the chances of his participation are high.
