Fans on social media were all making the same joke about Yao Ming following the former center’s appearance at an NBA game on Wednesday night.
The league kicked off its 2023/24 season this week, so basketball is officially back. And Ming was in attendance when the Cleveland Cavaliers played the Brooklyn Nets on the second night of regular-season action.
Ming, a Hall of Famer after a nine-year career, sat in the front row as the Cavs secured a marginal 114-113 win and must have enjoyed himself. However, the fan sitting directly behind him probably didn’t get to see much of the action.
The broadcast team joked about the guy and his partner who must have been excited to get second-row seats only to find out they were sitting right behind one of the tallest players in NBA history.
Of course, fans chimed in with jokes of their own.

Yao stands at 7ft 6in tall and is still taller than plenty of people when he sits down. Still, the fans probably didn’t mind having their view of the game obscured as you don’t get to be that close to The Great Wall of China every day.
They certainly didn’t look disappointed.
