Well, isn’t this just a plot twist.
The ame woman that is accusing Virginia lieutenant governor Justin Fairfax of sexual assault is now saying that former Duke basketball and NBA player Corey Maggette raped her while they were in college, the New York Times reports.
Meredith Watson said last Friday that Fairfax raped her while the two attended Duke 19 years ago, and then she claimed an unnamed Duke Basketball player raped her in 1999, with Fairfax knowing this information when he allegedly assaulted her.
Mr. Maggette denied the accusation through a spokesman Monday evening. “It has only been through media accounts and a statement from Meredith Watson’s lawyer that I first learned or heard of anything about these sexual assault allegations,” Mr. Maggette said in a statement. “I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my life and I completely and categorically deny any such charge.”
A spokeswoman for Fox Sports West, where Mr. Maggette is a basketball analyst, said in an email, “Fox Sports takes allegations of misconduct seriously, and we are looking into the matter. We have no further comment at this time.”
The Clippers moved quickly as it was reported the team removed Maggette from Monday night’s broadcast of the Clippers-Timberwolves after the allegation surfaced.
