The Los Angeles Lakers faced a tough 115-103 loss against the Detroit Pistons on Monday night, bringing their record to 4-3 and placing them fifth in the Western Conference. However, the defeat wasn’t the only setback, as the Lakers’ star player, Anthony Davis, suffered an injury during the game.
Davis injured his left ankle after a hard-fought layup attempt, where Pistons center Jalen Duren fouled him. He fell to the court and clutched his ankle. Though he was seen limping afterward, he chose to stay in the game. Despite the pain, Davis continued to play and score.
Fortunately, Davis’ injury doesn’t appear too serious. He is expected to play in the Lakers’ upcoming game against the Memphis Grizzlies. The game against Memphis will be the Lakers’ final of their five-game road trip. His resilience and commitment have impressed many, including Lakers coach JJ Redick, who praised Davis’ dedication before the game against the Pistons.
“He’s a pro’s pro. There’s a reason why he’s had the career he’s had and why he’s going to be in the Hall of Fame. It’s not just because of raw talent, but because he’s a worker and loves the game,” Redick said.
