The Milwaukee Bucks hit with unfortunate news just a week away from the NBA All-Star games. Their superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo, will be missing the NBA All-Star Game due to injuries that have plagued him in recent weeks.
Following his last game on February 2, Giannis felt issues with a lingering knee injury. Though he scored 30 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists, the game ended in the Memphis Grizzlies’ favor. However, Antetokounmpo’s condition led to his absence in the following matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder. And subsequently placed him on the injury report for calf tightness, forcing him to sit out the Bucks’ victory against the Charlotte Hornets.
Head coach Doc Rivers confirmed that Antetokounmpo will not be participating in the All-Star festivities. And the Greek Freak will also miss the three games leading up to the event. The team is cautious about his recovery, especially considering their aspiration to have him back in action. However, that could only be possible after the All-Star break.

Rivers expressed hope that Antetokounmpo could return for the Bucks’ first game back, scheduled for February 20 against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Bucks keenly feel the absence of the MVP. They are currently struggling with a record of 4-5 without their captain and sitting at the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference. Nonetheless, the organization is optimistic about their chances of making a deep playoff run.
NBA Will Announce Giannis Antetokounmpo Replacement For All-Star Games
While Giannis’ shot at the NBA All-Stars is in dismay, someone else will take his place. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will soon announce his replacement along with one for Anthony Davis.
Antetokounmpo is sidelined with a calf strain, while Davis is dealing with a non-contact left adductor strain sustained during his debut with the Dallas Mavericks. Both injuries are expected to keep them out for an extended period. And now that the league seeks fitting substitutes who can step in, a few favorite names are popping up.

Jarrett Allen and Trae Young are two of the most prominent names that make the cut at the last minute. Both of them are coming off a great season so far. Though they are not the only ones speculated to tap in, a few more names could make their way. Like Pascal Siakam, Kristaps Porziņģis, and Julius Randle.
As for his performances prior to the unfortunate setback, Antetokounmpo was also enjoying an exceptional year. He averaged 31.8 points and 12.2 rebounds per game, contributing significantly to the Milwaukee Bucks’ success, including an MVP title and an NBA Cup win.
