The NBA has announced its 2024–25 season schedule, starting October 22. The season opener will feature a high-profile matchup between the Boston Celtics, the reigning 2024 NBA champions, and the New York Knicks. Additionally, the Celtics and the Denver Nuggets will kick off their preseason with two games in Abu Dhabi, UAE, setting the stage for an exciting start.
The NBA’s schedule release highlights the league’s strategy to showcase its top teams. This year, the Los Angeles Lakers lead with the highest number of nationally broadcast games at 39. The Golden State Warriors follow with 36, the Boston Celtics have 34, and the New York Knicks are set for 30. These teams are set to attract significant attention due to their star power and major market presence.
On the flip side, the Detroit Pistons, Portland Trail Blazers, and Toronto Raptors are at the bottom of the list, each with just one national TV appearance. These teams will primarily be seen on local broadcasts, reflecting their current rebuild phases or less flashy profiles.
One of the biggest winners this year is the Minnesota Timberwolves. They’ve dramatically increased their national exposure, jumping from 10 games last season to 25 this year. Other teams seeing a significant boost include the Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks, Indiana Pacers, and Houston Rockets, all gaining extra spots in the national spotlight.
For fans eager to follow their favorite teams, the number of national TV games provides a glimpse into the league’s focus on stars and market appeal.
