A massive trade proposal has a top Western Conference team landing Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant in a move that would drastically shake up the NBA landscape.
The Suns acquired the future Hall of Famer in a blockbuster deal with the Brooklyn Nets ahead of last year’s trade deadline. Kevin Durant and Devin Booker were supposed to push Phoenix over in a crowded Western Conference, but the Suns have won just a single playoff series in the KD era.
Last summer, the Suns acquired All-Star guard Bradley Beal in a trade with the Washington Wizards. But the Durant-Beal-Booker super trio culminated in only 49 wins and a sweep at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Ishaan Bhattacharya of Fadeaway World proposed a massive trade idea with the Suns sending Durant back to his old team, the Oklahoma City Thunder. In Bhattacharya’s proposal, the Suns would receive Aaron Wiggins, Josh Giddey, Lu Dort, a 2025 first-rounder and two 2027 first-round picks.
“Bradley Beal being unmovable will continue to restrict them, but even Beal could find success as his offensive value will be heightened in Durant’s absence and with a guard like Giddey on the floor.
The Thunder could just trust the development of their core and stick with it, regardless of the outcome this season. Adding a player like Durant is a considerable risk, but it could be one worth taking. The Suns demolished years of roster building to acquire Durant and further tore it apart to acquire Beal, a mistake the Thunder won’t have to make.”

The Thunder finished as the top seed in the Western Conference with a 57-25 record, only to fall to Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks in the second round. Nonetheless, it was a special year of progress for a young team led by stars Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams.
GM Sam Presti is loaded with draft picks, so he’s in a good spot to make a big splash on the trade market if he so desires.
Kevin Durant Would Make OKC The Title Favorites
Oklahoma City was already a top team in the NBA last season, and that was without the presence of a veteran superstar. Now that they’re ready to take that next step forward, it’s not hard to be intrigued by the idea of a KD reunion.
Durant became the villain among Thunder fans when he left for the Golden State Warriors in 2016 free agency. But like LeBron James with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Durant could always strengthen his legacy by going back home and delivering a championship to the team that helped him become a legend.
