A blockbuster three-team trade proposal has the Chicago Bulls dealing All-Star guard Zach LaVine to a Western Conference heavyweight in a move that would send shockwaves across the NBA.
Zach LaVine has been the subject of trade rumors for over a year now. The Bulls took a huge step forward in their rebuild by trading veteran All-Star DeMar DeRozan to the Sacramento Kings in a sign-and-trade deal. It may only be a matter of time until LaVine is the next one out.
The 29-year-old LaVine is off to another strong start in Windy City, averaging 22.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game over his first six contests while shooting 49.5 percent from the field.
Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey proposed a significant trade proposal with Chicago sending Zach LaVine to the Los Angeles Lakers in a move involving the New Orleans Pelicans.
In Bailey’s proposal, the Lakers would complete a big three for LeBron James and Anthony Davis by getting LaVine and Antonio Reeves. Chicago would receive All-Star Brandon Ingram, D’Angelo Russell, Jalen Hood-Schifino and 2029 and 2031 first-round picks.
The Pelicans would get Chris Duarte, Cam Reddish, Jaxson Hayes, Rui Hachimura and Chicago’s 201 first-round pick:
“LaVine, 29, doesn’t have to be an offensive engine on a team with LeBron and Austin Reaves. And he would provide a greater and more consistent scoring punch than L.A.’s most recent third-leading scorer, D’Angelo Russell.
He’d also bump Reaves to the 1, give the Lakers a little bigger backcourt and offer the team a little more defensive optionality than Russell. LaVine isn’t exactly a lockdown perimeter defender, but he is longer than Russell (who’s often been a genuine disaster on that end).”

The Lakers have only advanced past the second round once since winning the NBA Championship in the 2020 Orlando bubble. With James and Davis still in the fold, they desperately need a third star, and Zach LaVine could be the final piece to get them over the top again.
Zach LaVine Would Bolster Lakers’ Title Hopes
The Los Angeles Lakers will always have a chance if James and Davis are healthy, but the former isn’t getting any younger (he turns 40 in December). There needs to be urgency in getting a deal done for another star, and LaVine is exactly what the Lakers need to re-emerge as a championship team.
