Following the Dallas Mavericks’ 124-103 victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 5, Luka Doncic was named the MVP of the Western Conference finals for the first time on Thursday. His 36-point performance, which included 20 in the opening quarter, effectively sealed the game’s outcome early in the series.
He made 14 of 22 shots, six of which were from three. Doncic also contributed two steals, five assists, and ten rebounds. The MVP title finally went to Nikola Jokic, who won it for the third time in four years. Still, the victory helped the Mavericks star overcome his disappointment at not earning it during the regular season.
Luka Doncic credited his teammates for the unanimous choice of WCF MVP. Doncic said, “This trophy is the whole team man, it’s not me. This means a lot, we’re going to NBA Finals, just can’t believe it.”
Doncic hopes to continue collecting awards and prove his skeptics wrong by winning the title and the 2024 NBA Finals MVP award.
Luka Doncic has already had some fantastic experiences in the 2024 playoffs. His most memorable game-winning performance was Game 2 of the Mavericks’ 109-108 victory against the Timberwolves. His heroics culminated in a step-back triple over four-time Defensive Player of the Year winner Rudy Gobert, which he used to spearhead his team’s comeback.

It took LeBron James and Michael Jordan until they were 27 years old to win their first titles. Given Doncic’s and the Mavericks’ recent performance, Doncic may win his first Larry O’Brien Trophy two years before the legends above. The Mavs superstar will be even more self-assured and driven to succeed after winning a championship.
Luka Doncic has shown his value this year in various ways, especially during the playoffs. He has had several memorable moments with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Paul George, James Harden, and Anthony Edwards. Although his defense was not as good as his attack, he persevered and maintained his ground when necessary.
