After cheering on the Dallas Mavericks during the NBA playoffs round 2 game against the OKC, Patrick Mahomes was back in the building, but this time he had his partner in crime, Travis Kelce, alongside him. After cheering on the NHL side, the Dallas Stars, Kelce came to support the Mavs in their game 3 against the Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals series. But things turned wrong when the Chiefs TE was on the jumbotron.
During the second quarter of the game, Kelce was seen on the big screen but was greeted with a chorus of boos from the American Airlines Center crowd. As the camera panned to Patrick Mahomes, the attendees let out a roar to welcome the Texas native.
But why exactly did the Dallas fans boo Kelce? The answer could be found in NFL history. Dallas has a long-standing rivalry with the Philadelphia Eagles and, since his brother, Jason Kelce, is a legend of the franchise, the boos were hurled in the direction of Travis. Another possible reason is his allegiance to the Cleveland Cavaliers where he and his brother were greeted with great enthusiasm.
Though the hostile crowd did not appreciate Kelce’s presence, Travis was seen linking up with the poster boy of Dallas basketball.
