After the New York Knicks’ disappointing 89-121 loss to the Indiana Pacers in game 4, Jalen Brunson, the team’s star player, spoke about their poor performance. He stated that there was no excuse for the loss and that it was just a loss. The Pacers took advantage of the Knicks’ underperformance and tied up the series.
“We can talk about fresher legs, and we can give us all the pity that we want. Yeah, we’re short-handed, but that doesn’t matter right now. We have what we have, and we need to go forward with that. There’s no ‘we’re short-handed.’ There is no excuse. There’s no excuse whatsoever. If we lose, we lose. That’s what that was.” Jalen Brunson said during a post-game interview.
Jalen Brunson initially attributed the loss against the Pacers to his foot injury and the injuries of some of his New York Knicks teammates, claiming that the Pacers had fresher legs. However, towards the end of his speech, he acknowledged that his team was shorthanded and that there was no excuse for the loss. He emphasized the need to compete despite the injuries

Jalen Brunson had a rough game, only scoring 18 points. He struggled to find his skills against the Pacers’ unrelenting defense, and his team lacked the energy to compete for rebounds. Although Brunson didn’t offer any excuses, it’s clear that the Knicks are facing a significant injury crisis. Despite not being on the injury report, Brunson may have been hindered by an aching foot.
Jalen Brunson averaged 28.7 points, 6.7 assists, and 3.6 rebounds in 77 games this season.
