The Washington Wizards somehow survived some major drama during halftime in the locker room when tensions boiled over with teammates.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Wizards big man Montrez Harrell became unhappy with teammate Kentavious Caldwell-Pope for not passing him the ball during a possession right before intermission. The verbal spat turned physical with punches being thrown. Luckily for everybody, none of the punches connected.
“As the two exchanged words, Harrell and Caldwell-Pope took swings toward each other — with neither connecting — and became entangled before teammates separated them, sources said,” Charania wrote.
Harrell had just returned to the lineup for the first time in over two weeks due to health and safety protocols. Harrell went viral before the game by arriving in an unusual light-up mask that covered his entire face and displayed the message, “I’m back” in scrolling text.
Quinton Mayo of NBC Sports Washington noted that Harrell’s mask was a Chemion LED face mask.
