Draymond Green, the Golden State Warriors star, has been the dominating force behind the team’s recent success. Alongside the star players Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, the 34-year-old has clinched four NBA championships. Green started the new NBA preseason after his teammate Thompson’s departure in the offseason and faced a unique question.
In a recent interview with Marc J. Spears of The Andscape, Green openly discussed early retirement. The 34-year-old NBA star candidly revealed that while the thought of retirement occasionally crosses his mind, he feels that his body is still not yet ready for it.
“I’m like, ‘Ah, I’m done.’ I’m like, ‘No the [expletive] you not. You got more. You can get past that.’ I’m just enjoying everything every day. Another thought I have was like, man, you started talking about what the end looks like. But the reality is my body don’t feel like I’m nowhere near the end. So, get the thought out your mind. When it happens, it happens.” Green said.
Green expressed his genuine enthusiasm for continuing to compete at the highest level in the league. Despite being 34 years old, he emphasized his desire to make the most of every moment on the court until his eventual retirement.
Green Spills the Beans on the Dominating Trio After Thompson’s Departure
Klay Thompson became a free agent after the last NBA season. The 34-year-old later joined the Dallas Mavericks while rejecting the Los Angeles Lakers’ offer. This broke the long-time dominating trio of the Warriors, which clinched four NBA championships for the franchise. In light of this topic, Green was asked about his relationship with Stephen Curry after Thompson’s exit.
“Listen, our relationship has always been our relationship. The one thing I think that’s always been interesting about us three is we never made anybody feel like, ‘Yo, that’s us three and then there’s y’all.’ We’ve never operated that way.” Green said.
