The Golden State Warriors head coach, Steve Kerr, is going through a hard time. He has recently shared heartbreaking news regarding the loss of his childhood home. The devastating loss came amid the destructive wildfires that almost destroyed the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles.
During a postgame press conference, Kerr took a moment to address the ongoing crisis and extend his condolences to everyone affected by the wildfires. After the news broke out, Kerr disclosed that his 90-year-old mother, Ann, was able to safely evacuate. Although they couldn’t save their lifelong residence from being consumed by flames.
“I want to send my thoughts and condolences to everybody in Los Angeles dealing with the fires. Everything I’m seeing and reading is just terrifying what’s happening down there, so just want to send thoughts to everyone who’s going through the devastation of the fire,” Kerr said.
“Our whole high school is gone, the town looks like it’s been completely wiped out… Just shocking.”

It’s understandable how hard it would be for the Warriors coach to explain. But he, unfortunately, confirmed the complete loss of his childhood home, which his parents purchased in 1969. He remarked on the surreal nature of watching his hometown “completely wiped out” as friends and neighbors also suffered the loss of their own family homes.
“That’s my hometown, and all my friends who are from there, pretty much they’ve all lost their homes, their family homes, childhood homes. Their whole high school’s gone. The town looks like it’s just been completely wiped out. It’s surreal and devastating,” he added.

Steve Kerr Opened Up About Starting Lineup Weakness
The Warriors are having some issues lately. And Steve Kerr couldn’t deny it. He recently commented after the tough win over the Detroit Pistons. Usually calm during press conferences, Kerr let his guard down this time, admitting he often makes the mistake of taking Kevon Looney out of the lineup, only to later wonder why he did that.
It’s clear that when Looney is on the court, he brings a lot to the table as a strong rebounder and a solid defender. Yet, Kerr’s decisions have sometimes left the team at a disadvantage, especially in tight games where Looney could really shine.
“This happens every year. I take Loon out of the lineup, bring him back, and then I’m like, why did I take Loon out of the lineup? You know, he’s a winner. So I just thought there were a lot of guys who really contributed tonight to what you’re talking about, defense to offense. The game connecting, you know, that’s why we had multiple runs,” Kerr said.
Even though Looney averaged 23.9 minutes per game last season, his playing time has dropped this year, and that’s concerning. In his postgame thoughts, Kerr recognized how crucial it is to have players like Looney on the floor.
