After missing all the tuneup games due to injury, Kevin Durant has been showcasing a strong comeback performance in the Paris Olympics since the group stage game. With his dominating performance, Team USA is just a game away from grabbing its fifth straight gold in the Olympics. However, beyond his on-court achievements, Durant often finds himself in the spotlight for his deep love and admiration for his mother, Wanda Durant.
Durant’s affection for his mother is well-known, particularly after he famously called her “the real MVP” during his 2014 NBA MVP speech. In an interview with Marc Spears of Andscape at the Paris Olympics, Wanda Durant shared how those words from her son changed her life.
“That speech let me know that he got it, and he understood why I was the type of mother that I was. Why I was so present and engaging and somewhat hovering. Because I wanted the best for my sons,” Wanda said.
Wanda then tearfully expressed her deep bond with her sons, revealing how much they mean to her.
“I love him. I love both of my sons so much. My sons literally saved my life. I wanted to quit on living, but I couldn’t because of them,” she added.
