Zach Edey ain’t soft, and Draymond Green got to know firsthand. In what turned out to be a fiery chapter of the Memphis Grizzlies versus Golden State Warriors rivalry, the tension on the court boiled over during their latest match. The game almost went smoothly before it saw a little bit of heat between the two NBA stars.
Early in the fourth quarter, Zach Edey caught a pass and was ready to go for a seemingly effortless dunk. But Draymond Green came crashing down on him and swiped across Edey’s shoulders. Edey found himself in an utter moment of frustration as it was a sure-shot basket, and he couldn’t hold his agitation over the Warriors man. The Grizzlies rookie shoved Green in retaliation.
After the officials reviewed the play, they upgraded Green’s foul to a flagrant, which stirred up even more conversation. Edey voiced his feelings pretty openly afterward. His words resonated with anyone who knows how disheartening it can feel when you’re being manhandled on the court.
“I didn’t like it. I don’t like when people grab and touch me. Just get off me,” Edey said after the foul.

This kind of back-and-forth is what makes Grizzlies-Warriors games so exciting. Both Edey and Green were not only fighting for points but also asserting their presence on the court. Edey, fresh off some tough encounters with Green, was looking to stand his ground. As the Warriors walked away with a 121-113 win, it was clear that the tension had turned this matchup into mere agitation.

Draymond Green Enraged After His Foul On Zach Edey
After the Warriors came away with a win over Memphis, Draymond Green had some interesting things to say about receiving yet another flagrant foul. When a reporter asked him if he knew what the foul was for, he quipped with a classic Green-styled quote.
“No, but it’s Draymond Green—that’s why it’s a flagrant foul,” Dray told the reporter.
Draymond Green asked about Zach Edey: “He play in the NBA.” Asked about his skill set: “He play in the NBA.”

Green knows his reputation and how he orchestrates physical gameplay for the team’s advantage. But he gets penalized for his playing style nine out of ten times. The tension between the two has been brewing for a while now. Their clash during the game came during a heated battle for a rebound, where things got physical and led to Green’s flagrant foul.
This wasn’t just a one-off incident. Their history goes back to earlier this season when Green was punished for intentionally tripping Edey in another match-up.
It had happened when Edey was looking to spark a fast break after snagging a loose ball against the Warriors. Green, who was sprawled on the floor after losing possession, cleverly tangled his arm around Edey’s leg, causing the towering center to trip and hit the ground.
This move led to a transition take foul, awarding the Grizzlies a free throw and possession, but many felt the referees should have reviewed it for a flagrant foul.
