Before officially retiring from the NBA, Carmelo Anthony dazzled fans with his versatility and athleticism for nearly two decades. Though he is often recognized as one of the greatest players never to win an NBA championship, his career accomplishments speak volumes. He was named an NBA All-Star ten times and earned a spot on the All-NBA Team six times during his career.
Even legendary players, including Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant, found it tough to face Carmelo on the court. In a recently resurfaced video, Bryant admitted that Anthony was one of the hardest players for him to defend.
“For me? Yeah. Because myself, Melo, Paul Pierce, Durant’s developed players that can shoot the long ball, have a great midrange game, great post-up game, turnaround left shoulder, turnaround right shoulder,” Bryant said.
“Melo does it all, and he’s strong as a bull. I weigh a buck eighty soaking wet going up against that bull. It’s fun, but it’s extremely challenging,” he added.
Carmelo Anthony Reflects on Retirement and Supporting His Son Kiyan

“I don’t get the itch from going to games, but when I’m training in the gym, I feel it. The preparation for a professional game is so demanding. If I were to come back, where would I fit? I wouldn’t be in the top ten of the rotation,” Melo said.
“I’m busy with my son and staying active, but I don’t think about returning to that level of preparation,” he added.
At 40 years old, rather than contemplating a comeback, Anthony seems dedicated to guiding Kiyan as he works toward his own future in the sport. Instead of regretting his retirement, he is investing his time in helping his son achieve success on the basketball court.
