According to the recent reports by ESPN NBA insider Adrain Wojnarowski, forward Tobias Harris is about to sign a two-year, $52 million contract with the Detroit Pistons.
“Tobias Harris has agreed to a two-year, $52 million deal with the Detroit Pistons, sources tell ESPN.” Wojnarowski wrote in his latest post on X (formerly known as Twitter).
After the trade news was announced, a video from the previous season of Harris mocking 76ers fans went viral on social media after he joined the Detroit Pistons as a free agent. The video includes an interview with Harris from June 2023.
“Casual 76ers fans, they’ll trade me for a Crumbl Cookie. They have to realize you’re not getting a 6’9″ forward back who can damn near shoot 40% from 3, guard teams’ best player, post-up, drive & play 70+ games a year.” Harris said this in that interview.
Harris played several seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers, with claims that he didn’t play well during crucial moments, especially in the playoffs. According to StatMuse, Harris averaged 17.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 70 games this season.

Meanwhile, another fan joked about Harris’ statement in the video and said, “Which Crumbl Cookie flavor we talkin about here? Then I can decide.”
A third fan criticized Harris and mentioned, “No hate here, but there’s a lot of (non star) NBA players that can perform as well or better than Tobias.”
Meanwhile, another fan pointed out Harris’s faults, stating, “Bottom line here, you not playing like you did in LA with the clippers, you not playing like you did in Detroit, and you definitely not playing like you did the first 2 yrs with the sixers, yep, you trade bait for sure.”
Harris had previously been rumored to be considering potential free-agency landing spots. Shams Charania of The Athletic provided insight on the deal, mentioning that the Utah Jazz and the Detroit Pistons are the two teams interested in signing the forward.
