Kevin Durant was found to be at his meanest best as he returned to the Footprint Center. Having suffered a humiliating loss to the Lakers recently, courtesy of an Anthony Davis special, Durant was itching for a victory. Thus, appearing in his first home game of the season, ‘Slim Reaper’ went all in to get his side to a 114-102 humbling of the Dallas Mavericks. And en route to the dominant victory, Durant did something to Luka Doncic that pretty much revealed the Suns’ body language for the evening.
Going on a one-on-one against the towering stature of Luka Doncic, Durant had his task cut off. Getting into constant tussles, the duo provided quite a show for the spectators. But Durant wanted to add some more intrigue. On one instance, Durant charged towards the free throw line and got hold of a tough jumper, avoiding Doncic’s block. While this was impressive enough, Durant decided to have some more fun.
The 36-year-old went on to make a ‘Too Small’ gesture in an attempt to disrespect the Slovenian. Durant used his fingers to imitate the act of a magician, symbolic of the fact that Doncic’s magic was ‘too small’ to contain him. Thankfully, Durant backed up with a solid performance to help his team get back on the winning track.
The two-time NBA winner dropped 31 points, sending a stern message to all their future opponents. Interestingly, Durant persisted with his ’too small’ gesture even after the match. He pulled off the celebration during his post-match interaction, too, adding further insult to the injury. Now, having played for this long in the NBA, Durant is going so strong that it is surely a surprise. As a matter of fact, he clarified about his priorities much before the season started.
Kevin Durant Prefers Performance Over Money
Kevin Durant is currently in his 19th NBA session. While already earning a whopping $51.1 million, Durant has an opportunity to further improve his pay with a contract extension. But the ‘Slim Reaper’ is not interested solely in money. In a recent statement, the Suns’ superstar stressed the fact that performing well for his team was the utmost mission at the moment. Durant also pointed out that he has not yet had a money-related conversation with the authorities.

Durant further stated, “I’m just trying to keep getting better and keep growing my game and see how good I can get. That’s always been my main focus. When the time comes, the time comes. Right now, I got two seasons left on my deal so I’m going to focus on those two.” Thus, with Kevin Durant focused hard, the Suns’ fans can surely dream big as the season rolls on.
