Last night, the Golden State Warriors made a massive trade to acquire Jimmy Butler. The Warriors handed former All-Star Andrew Wiggins to the Miami Heat as part of the deal.
Following the Warriors’ 131–128 defeat to the Utah Jazz, a distraught Steve Kerr considered the value Andrew Wiggins held for the team and his character. However, he did admit that this is how the NBA operates.
Kerr stated, “He just had a baby boy last week. His girls are in school. Wiggs is one of my favorite players I’ve ever coached. Just a beautiful soul, a wonderful human being. We don’t hang that banner in 2022 without him. Everything he brings, every single day – laughter, smiles, joy. Just a wonderful human being. I’m going to miss him… This is the business. We know that. We talk about it periodically. Everyone moves on and you say your goodbyes.”

Over the years, Wiggins developed into a vital member of the squad. He significantly impacted the Warriors’ 2022 NBA title run; some even ranked him as the team’s second-best player, after Stephen Curry, and as the team’s top defender, along with Draymond Green. When Wiggins was with the Warriors, he was named an All-Star for the first time in his career.

Upon his recent return to action following a suspension, Draymond Green immediately saw Kerr’s fire during games. Green recalled a specific instance in which Kerr broke a clipboard in rage over the team’s subpar performance.

He does a great job of channeling it. But when it come out it come out. Once we learned that, there was no problem… he has an incredible amount of fire inside. He does a great job of channeling it, but when it comes out, it comes out.”
Steve Kerr now has a better team with Jimmy Butler coming in. The Warriors HC also suggested moving the NBA trade deadline. However, after a medical, Butler will land in San Francisco today, and he and the Warriors will work rapidly to get him back on the court as soon as possible.
