The Golden State Warriors faced the Phoenix Suns in Phoenix on Saturday. This highly anticipated matchup featured an interesting storyline as Kevin Durant will face off against his former coach, Steve Kerr, and his former team. Ahead of the Suns vs. Warriors game, Kerr fielded questions on Durant in a pre-match press conference where he shared his admiration for the star forward.
Durant spent three seasons with Golden State. The partnership between Kerr and Durant was a defining era for the franchise. Kerr shared Durant’s decision to leave Golden State in 2019 to pursue a new chapter in his career.
“I love coaching Kevin. Um, he was amazing. Um, you know, obviously, two straight finals. I think it was clear at the end that he was ready to move on and take on a different challenge. We would’ve loved to have kept him forever, but it wasn’t meant to be,” Kerr said.
