The Golden State Warriors had one of their worst games ever on Thursday night, and it was a messy sight in FedExForum. The Memphis Grizzlies won the game by scoring 144-93, and they dominated it for most of the evening. No one anticipated a blowout like this from Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. Moreover, it was an odd sensation for fans following the game, even if supporters had lately fallen on hard times following a scorching start to the season.
Curry concluded the game with just two points on a horrifying 0–7 shooting from the field because he was out of sync the whole time. Schroder, his new backcourt partner, didn’t do much better either, which is better left out of the Warriors’ collective memory. That being said, Curry and the Warriors are not panicking. The 36-year-old great is not at all upset about this loss to the Grizzlies.
During his post-game interview, Curry said, “We get blown out like this once a year. [But compared to the 50-point loss against the Boston Celtics earlier this year], I like the vibes better right now. I’m going to keep saying it cause I genuinely believe it we are better than what we been playing. Better than what we showed tonight.”
He added, “I don’t like the ‘panic’ word. Accept where you’re at. Buck up and figure out how to change the momentum of the season. Panic kinda means you don’t have an answer. I think we do have answers, it’s just maybe [there should be] a sense of urgency, for sure,”
Stephen Curry & Co. Need To Improve Their Game If They Want To Be Serious Title Contenders
Stephen Curry wasn’t the only one who was awful. Draymond Green finished with 0 points, zero rebounds, and zero assists on 0–4 shooting in 19 minutes, but almost every player on the squad was terrible. On the floor, he had the lowest team score of -42.
The Warriors will do their best to move on and make some changes moving forward in the wake of this defeat. For this club to return to the title picture, the roster must improve, even if Steve Kerr will undoubtedly make adjustments to the rotation.
