The Golden State Warriors suffered a rigid 125-85 loss to the defending champions, the Boston Celtics, on MLK Day 2025. This defeat marked the Warriors’ fifth loss in their last eight games. With the loss, the Warriors’ record now stands at an even 21-21.
Warriors star Stephen Curry did not hold back in his post-game press conference, speaking candidly about his team’s recent struggles. Curry went on to explain how this lack of energy has hurt the Warriors’ chances, especially against top-tier teams.
“I have no idea. Just a tough one from the end of the first quarter through the rest of the game. (I) thought we came out with a pretty good life and energy. A big part of our season has been when we can’t score, we lose spirit, we lose life, we lose competitiveness,” Curry said.

“You can get away with it against some teams, against the defending champs. It’s not a good formula for success,” he added.
Stephen Curry Emphasizes “Next Man Up” Mentality Amid Warriors’ Injury Struggles
The Warriors faced more challenges on MLK Day as both Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga missed the game due to injuries. In the post-game press conference, Stephen Curry was asked how the team could stay afloat in the coming weeks without Green and Kuminga. Curry shared the importance of a collective effort.
“Next man up mentality: everybody who steps foot on the floor got to be able to perform, you know, bring a spirit of, you know, you belong and do it together as a unit. It didn’t happen tonight. We obviously had nothing really to show for 36 minutes tonight, and it’s gonna get tougher,” Curry said.

The Warriors will need players across the roster to step up and fill the void left by Green and Kuminga. The team’s next stretch of games will be critical in determining whether the Warriors can regain their footing and remain in playoff contention.
