The LA Lakers vice president of basketball operations, Rob Pelinka’s spot in the franchise seems to be in danger after his controversial hiring decisions. The management faced criticism for bringing in the new inexperienced head coach, JJ Redick, and LeBron’s son, Bronny James.
Fingers were also pointed at him for not being able to acquire an elite player, so far as suggested by LeBron and Anthony Davis. To add more pressure to this situation, Stephen A. Smith named a candidate suitable for the role in LA.
Recently on his podcast, Smith was asked about his thoughts whether the Lakers should think about replacing the VP. Appreciating the question, the veteran analyst said, “If I got a guy like Bob Myers out there, it is legitimate to simply ask the question, ‘How long do you keep him on the sidelines when you have an opportunity to have him?’” (At 47:09 minute)
Myers enjoyed huge success during his decade-long tenure at the Golden State Warriors (2012-2023). Following his departure from the Dubs last year, Myers joined the analyst seat beside Smith. The way Stephen A. acknowledged and pushed Myers’ resume, it appears like the 51-year-old is supportive of his fellow analyst’s change of role if the Lakers give it a thought.
To redeem himself, Pelinka is reportedly determined to get on terms with a Bulls star. A trade that could make LeBron’s potential paycut look worthy.
LA Lakers Interested in Bringing In DeMar DeRozan
The Lakers were aiming to get Klay Thompson on board. But when they failed miserably, they started looking for the other options on their list. Of which Bulls’ DeMar DeRozan seemed like a fit to the franchise’s eyes.

However, the Heat have entered the scene with their interest in the swingman. They might face some complications of letting one of their players go if they want DeRozan. The Lakers also need to free up their cap space to acquire the 6-time All-Star.
GM Pelinka said, “I think we’re gonna always be aggressive to try to make roster upgrades and will be relentless to continue to look at what we can do.”
On failing to get this trade through, Pelinka will certainly face more backlash. But there is a possibility that the Lakers will get the recently turned free agent to their side.
