For most NBA stars, winning a championship is the ultimate achievement. However, for Carmelo Anthony, his three Olympic gold medals hold more value than an NBA title. Despite never winning an NBA championship, Anthony recently made a bold statement. The former NBA star said that he wouldn’t trade his gold medals for an NBA trophy.
This comment did not sit well with Stephen A. Smith, who didn’t hold back his criticism of Anthony’s perspective on ESPN’s “First Take.” Smith expressed his disbelief and disappointment in Anthony’s statement.
“I almost cried when I heard that Carmelo [Anthony] said that,” Smith said.
Smith was clearly frustrated by Anthony’s comment. He described the 40-year-old’s remark as one of the most shocking things he’s ever heard from the NBA star.
“That is maybe the most ridiculous comment I’ve ever heard come out of his mouth, and everybody knows how much I love my man, Melo. I couldn’t believe he said something so utterly ridiculous,” Smith added.
